What we do…
Joy de Vivre operates on a very simple premise. *We use crowdsourcing to raise the capital required to fund the development, prototyping, manufacturing, and distribution costs associated with bringing a product to market.*
While this sounds a bit abstract, this is how our process works: you purchase one of the products from the Joy de Vivre store. We have calculated all the costs required to bring this product to market. As part of these calculations, we set a minimum level of product that must be sold to break-even on the costs. *Your purchase dollars are placed into a development fund where it stays in trust until the minimum funding requirements have been met.*
Once our minimum funding goal has been met, or the funding phase ends, we prototype the product. Prototypes verify the design intent to ensure the quality and functionality are up to our standards. *We do not commit to production tooling until we are satisfied you will be happy with the product.* From this point we manufacture the production tooling. In addition, built into the retail price is a contingency fund to cover any unforeseen costs.
As we wait for the manufacturing to finish, you are regularly updated about your project’s progress. *Once we have the production order fulfilled, we ship your order out to you.*
We also do something few other companies do. We reward you for helping to fund the product’s development. *If you help to fund one of Joy’s products, you become part of a pool sharing a 2% royalty.* While modest, if the product you helped to fund is later carried by a large retailer, you could earn money from your initial purchase. Because you helped fund this product’s development, you become tied to its success: it if does well, you do well. It is a little gift from us to you.
If for some reason the product which you helped to fund does not meet the minimum funding goal, *you get your money back within four days. It is as simple as that.*
